Mission and Community tourism is making positive contributions to the community without leaving a negative impact. Many of this communities are a living example of the benefits that responsible tourism can generate.
Many young people in Mayan communities do not have access to public schooling because their families are unable to purchase uniforms, books and other necessary materials. Access to education was virtually eliminated during the internal Civil conflict and has since been slowly rebuilding.
Because of this, there is a cycle of poverty in many Mayan regions that has been difficult to break. Wild Guatemala through other organizations provides education and training in relevant subjects to prepare students face life with more tools !!
